Our client is searching for Medical Technologists for the following Departments:

  • Microbiology - evening shift

  • Hematology - night shift

Job Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of assay development, assay validation, quantitative drug analysis, and correlation studies is preferable. Testing must be completed in compliance with the policies and procedures of CLIA, COLA, and other accreditation organizations.

  • The technologist performs tasks within a wide scope of laboratory functions.

  • Analysis, data evaluation, and reporting. The work requires familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS), quality control procedures, troubleshooting problems, documentation of actions taken to correct problems, and adhering to strict turnaround time standards.

  • Responsibilities will include the analysis of client urine samples, including accessioning, sample preparation. In addition, experience with equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and minor repairs is required.

Position Requirements

Knowledge and training preferred medical technologist:

  • General understanding of instrument theory and mechanics of operation.

  • Physical, environmental, and electrical requirements for instrument location and operation, as well as names and functions of all instrument parts.

  • Integration of equipment with LIMS, printers, and other devices.

  • Sample accessioning, barcoding, and tracking.

  • Sample preparation for cases including sample dilution, filtration, or concentration as needed.

  • All chemicals, reagents, calibrators, standards, supplies, and disposables needed for sample processing.

  • Proper storage of chemicals and disposal of waste chemicals.

  • Laboratory and personnel safety when operating equipment.

  • Instrument calibration, review of calibration data, storage of data calibration, and procedures for resolving failed calibrations.

  • Handling, reviewing, and clearing pending logs.

  • Contacting technical service to resolve problems if possible, or request on-site service.

  • Completion of written competency tests.

  • Daily, Weekly, Monthly maintenance procedures.

  • Using instrument error codes to resolve problems.

  • Signing for and receiving shipments, supplies, samples, etc., as needed.

  • Shipping samples to reference or other laboratories as needed.

Job Qualifications

Must have their License as a Medical Technician, ASCP for Medical Technologist, Licensed as a New York State Technologist or have their Bachelors in Medical Technology (To qualify for a limited permit for one year with the lab).

  • Preferred experience assessing Vitamins and additional dietary Supplements

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
